I recently ran a file activity monitor on the server MDaemon is installed on. I have some concerns with the frequency and amount of data that is being read from some of the files over and over and over again. My suggestion is that you check this out so that it can be optimized. Right now it seems less than optimal.
Here is one example:
Domains.ini is being read thousands of times per second.
I can see that these calls to disk are causing performance issues as the disk is busy doing unnecessary repetitive tasks of retrieving the same file over and over.
Also I am seeing email accounts with large amounts of email in the inbox with 40,000 emails constantly hit the messages.idx files.
Anyways, I recommend you look at a program called FileActivityWatch from Nirsoft.net
This will help identify those files that are constantly being touched and causing the disk to be busy with requests.
I can handle getting rid of some emails to prevent the messages.idx file from being utilized as much, but I am seeing this happen with World Client, almost as if a process is stuck, etc..
Thank you for your suggestion. We are always looking for ways to improve the performance of MDaemon and are fully aware that MDaemon is very I/O intensive. We are always making improvements to try to reduce disk activity.
